Please please please can you make it a requirement in AIBU post to be clear what their question is??

The polls are often bear no relation to the coments because people are trying to interpret what the OP is asking then the subsequent dripfeeds, that then changes the responses.

AIBU to want posts to have a clear question from the outset?

I think posts develop like conversations, there’s an initial post.Thereafter as thread develop more information is given. An initial post cannot cover all queries. Sure, some aibu well have a drip drip reveal that’s probably manipulated to benefit the OP. Not sure how you contain or regulate drip feeds

I agree with OP - it's the only vote topic, they can post elsewhere if not asking a Q and want to drip feed. It's meant to be a poll or there is not point in having it.

I agree - posts develop, and you cannot put everything in original post.

My struggle is AIBU posts that actually just use the board for traffic. And where issues could be better addressed in other boards.

I just want to know what I am voting for - surely posts that can state it clearly should stand, ithers thst can't should move.

Or maybe i am being too simplistic.

But AIBU is just now feeling like a geberal venting board of you combined chat and relationships.

Look at how many posts where the first response is "and your question is...."

Morning @MasterOfOne,

While we don't want to be too prescriptive (and sometimes it's clear what the OP is asking even though they haven't necessarily phrased it with an AIBU), if you see threads that really don't seem to belong in AIBU, you can always send us a report and we will move them if they definitely don't sit well there.

We can also edit the original post for the original poster if it becomes clear that there wasn't a specific question being asked but they want to keep the 'poll' aspect of the thread and they drop us a line, so it's also worth letting them know that on the thread.

Ultimately, they'll get more responses if it's a clear AIBU so it's in everyone's interests for threads to work that way and be easy to answer, but we don't want to be so draconian about it that no one wants to post there either. We hope WANBU ;-)
