And just as you're finishing your edit the thread gets deleted.
On some FB groups I'm on this is where the original author doesn't get the answers they like and does a "dirty delete" but it's particularly annoying on Mumsnet where it isn't a troll/sock puppet and it isn't the OP that deletes but MN deletes for reasons like "the OP has gone on holiday and doesn't need this thread any more".

Hi there DrSpouse,

We try not to delete entire threads on Mumsnet unless in particular circumstances and we do always try to find another solution where possible. Having said that, we don't want to make anyone's lives harder than they already are so if, for example, someone is in danger of being outed in real life, or it's likely to cause huge problems for them if the thread remains, we will help out where we can. We do understand that it's annoying when people have taken the time to comment and try to help though.
