Well, actually you see less of the image. It happened here:

when this ad was the entire background. There was a parking diagram & when I clicked on it only the central part of the image was displayed; the 2 sides were still the ad instead of being the rest of the image plus a black banner. Sorry, didn't get a screenshot of that. The SS is what happened afterwards, when the ad took over MN & I couldn't see or do anything any more. I solved that by doing 'back'.

Imagine you click on an image in a post. You get a banner across most if not all of the screen (widthways) - i.e. the banner with the whole image plus a black vertical bar at each end extends over the background advert on either side. It goes beyond the central column where posts appear.

Well, when this happened nothing extended over the pink & turquoise background advert; instead, what should have been the whole image was cut off at the vertical edges of the usual posting area. In effect, the central part of the image was shown with nothing either side extending over the advert.

Thanks @ifIwerenotanandroid . We think we know what you mean. It would definitely help to see it. It sounds like something was just not loading properly but if you spot it again, grab a screenshot and we'll have another look.

Oddly, it just happened again but with a twist, on the 'What's this on my dressing table' thread. Same advert, same 'everything's confined to the central column of posts' effect but this time it showed the poster's whole photo with a black banner either side. I'll try to get screenshots if anything happens again.
