The very bright green banner about phones is giving me a headache. Did MN just "forget" the issues of vision impaired users that were widely discussed a couple of months ago

Also not impressed with hard sell, "buy now" boxes popping up on my screen while reading a thread.

Agree - I get startled by it every time I refresh the active list!

BuffButlerBumfight · 06/11/2025 16:09

Came on to start a thread, but see that there already is one.

It's absolutely horrible - clashes with all the other colours.

Could somebody form @MNHQ please explain the thinking behind this?

After all, changing the "basic" colours went so well last time.spoiler alert: it absolutely didn't

PencilsInSpace · 06/11/2025 16:22

Yes, it's hideous, especially with the bright yellow 'Go ad free' button up there as well.

DrSpartacularsMagnificentOctopus · 06/11/2025 16:43

It is awful.

BiologicalRobot · 06/11/2025 18:28

I agree with everyone else. It's headache inducing and very jarring. Why do this after the last long thread regarding bright colours MN?

SirChenjins · 06/11/2025 18:32

I agree - this had really been annoying me and Id swiped down immediately. I can't imagine why anyone would click on the ad link.

Kreepture · 06/11/2025 22:35

its awful. i had the aftermath of a migraine this morning, that bar hurt my head.

Seeline · 07/11/2025 08:37

It seems have gone back to a white strip this morning 🤞🏼

JustineMumsnet · 07/11/2025 17:31

Hi all
We trialled the bright green banner to highlight our new phone, and it definitely outperformed the white version in driving interest and clicks to the phone page. Although the green passed accessibility checks, it's clear that for some of you it was jarring and even causing headaches, which is obviously not a trade-off we want to make.

We’ve now switched the banner back to a white strip while we retune the colour, and we’ve also dialled down the “buy now” pop-ups so they shouldn’t interrupt mid-read. Thanks as ever for the feedback.

BuffButlerBumfight · 07/11/2025 17:40

I'm now seeing the banner as a mixture of lilac and blue.

Either of those colours are a vast improvement on the acid green, but maybe have just one or the other?

Lunde · 08/11/2025 00:34

The lilac/blue is much better
