Weird moderation

Looks like there’s a lot of wine being taken by the moderators this evening. Perfectly reasonable poets being removed on a thread that has been set up deliberately to troll pet owners.

maybe the sock puppet who started it is one of the flavours of the week here but it’s not a good look. MN are glorifying animal cruelty by allowing these posts to stand.

as a site I understand you changed and you’re now only looking to generate clicks and you’re appealing to the lower classes now hence all the Jet2 adverts and similar shit.

but if this is really the shit you want, good luck. Maybe if you paid moderators you could have saved the site. But for whatever reason you’ve decided to attract people who have bilious arguments about teenagers genitalia and then allowed the photos to be posted here too.

I’m more perturbed by the level of racism and Islamophobia that permeates the site nowadays than a debate about whether dogs that upset people or people that upset dogs are worse. But I agree, MN is in a doom spiral to the bottom.

Sorry to hear you feel this way. We do pay our moderators and always have. They work hard to apply our Talk Guidelines consistently across thousands of posts every day, which isn’t always easy.
Threads about sensitive subjects can understandably provoke strong feelings, but we don’t allow trolling or personal attacks, and we remove posts that break the rules when we see or are alerted to them.
We’ll review the thread you’ve mentioned, and if anything breaches our guidelines it will be taken down.

Are you including the night watch in that statement about the moderators, @JustineMumsnet ?

I completely understand your concern. We don’t tolerate racism, Islamophobia, or any other form of hate speech on Mumsnet - though it’s fair to say that not everyone always agrees on where that line sits. We want Mumsnet to be a place for robust debate, but never at the expense of respect or inclusion. If you spot something we’ve missed, please do report it so we can take a look.

I’m not, no — we do have some overnight volunteers, but they have very limited powers and access to our admin systems. Their role is really to keep things stable overnight and flag anything that needs attention in the morning, rather than make decisions about bans or deletions. Unless something is clearly abusive, they’ll usually leave it for the day team, who clock on very early in the morning, to review.

Aside from the moderation issues and I agree there is a lot of racism left to stand. Are you saying that only the Middle class should be targeted on MN? 'That the the 'lower classes' are the reason MN is shit now?

Forums I've always thought. Their ball, their game. There's plenty of them to choose from.
