I love the new 'support' reaction. I didn't think much about it when it was first introduced, but I've gradually realised just how MANY posts there are where I really want to express my support and sympathy for someone going through tough times.
It's not an alternative to actually posting helpful replies but it is a lovely addition, especially in those (many) cases where you really feel for an OP but have no experience that qualifies you to say something helpful to her.
It gives us the chance to do lots of little (very little) acts of small kindness almost daily. And I find that (in accordance with CBT principles!), my thoughts, feelings and attitudes are shaped by my behaviour: Every time I do a 'kindness click' it helps to chip away at the angry righteous tribal mentality that can make social media such a draining place to be.
I wonder what other possible new site functionalities might also help to foster positive social feelings in place of rage?
