On balance, how do you feel about the labour government at the moment?

I've been asked this question for many weeks...perhaps months. What is mumsnet trying to prove? I can answer it every day if I want. It means nothing the way mumsnet are adding this to the screen. Am I the only one? Is it a glitch with my pc?

Oh the multiple choice thing? Yes I get this too.

If they have to ask….

Nutmuncher · 20/10/2025 08:28

lol I’ve noticed this too. ‘On balance’ being a coded signal for please be nice and gentle.

Hello @poshcrisps thanks for posting.

The polls are now a regular feature to get a quick snapshot of what MNers think about various topical issues. We use this info along with our Insight panel to improve Mumsnet and find out the issues that are important to parents at the moment.

You shouldn’t be seeing the same question over and over though, so we’ll take a look at the frequency and make sure it’s not getting stuck in a loop.

@BeckyAMumsnet The only other one I get is about giving a child some cough medicine.

@BeckyAMumsnet i'm being asked again this morning about Labour

OP posts:
poshcrisps · 22/10/2025 11:19

@BeckyAMumsnet still being asked about Labour and how badly they are performing!

Davros · 22/10/2025 11:20

I’ve never seen it. I pay £2.99 pm for MN premium. It’s well worth it

poshcrisps · 25/10/2025 15:08

@BeckyAMumsnet I'm still being asked about Labour. How many times do I have to say they are useless twats?

OP posts:
BIWI · 25/10/2025 16:25

From a research perspective, this is a pretty ropey way of collecting people’s views @BeckyAMumsnet - there’s absolutely no statistical validity about it at all.

You have no idea who’s answering the questions (and nor should you!) and you have no idea how many are answering more than once - and you certainly don’t have any idea how many people are answering flippantly and giving a ‘wrong’ answer.

poshcrisps · 31/10/2025 11:15

@BeckyAMumsnet are we getting anywhere re getting rid of the Labour useless government question? It's so annoying.

OP posts:
poshcrisps · 14/11/2025 08:58

I'm still getting this annoying question. It doesn't prove anything. I'm replying that the government is shite everytime I see it.

And NO my child has never taken Broncho Junior for a cough. That's the other annoying question I'm asked every flipping day.

OP posts:
Cattenberg · 25/11/2025 23:49

What annoys me is that once you've voted, you don't get to see the results, just a "thank you for voting" page. That's not the normal deal!

poshcrisps · 13/01/2026 10:59

Hey Mumsnet. I was told me on 20 October that this issue would be looked in to. I'm still getting this question about Labour and my child using a medicine? It must be a very complicated issue to correct is it?

OP posts:
BeckyAMumsnet · 13/01/2026 13:08

Hello @poshcrisps thanks for alerting us - you shouldn't see this again so something isn't working as it should. We've switched polls off while we look into it.

BIWI · 13/01/2026 15:14

That really doesn’t fill me with any confidence in the validity of MN’s polls about voting intentions - MNHQ have had over 2 months to deal with this, and meantime have been issuing PR ‘surveys’ to the press Hmm

poshcrisps · 13/01/2026 15:20

@BIWI Agreed

OP posts:
helplessbanana · 13/01/2026 15:21

I'm fed up with seeing it as well.

Surely the question should disappear anyway, once you've answered it, otherwise it isn't going to produce accurate statistics at all. Some people will vote every time they see the dratted thing and their answer will be recorded many times. That will seriously skew the results, especially since it is only the people with strong political view who are likely to bother.
