Why isn't there a directory, or why isn't a handle clickable?

Here's the latest thing. I'm trying to send a message to someone - and I know it can be done - but can't figure out how. I've clicked in a bunch of places, to no avail. In some sites, you can click on the person's handle as a first step, but it's not clickable here.

Click on the three dots in upper right hand corner then click PM

Click on the three dots in top right of the users post, select PM (envelope symbol )

Thanks. Exasperating.
Is there anything to do if you can't find the original post?

It works from any post that person has posted.
