Asterisks

On this promotional thread https://www.mumsnet.com/articles/back-to-school-shopping I read "With prices held for 2025*, the range offers practical touches like...". That leads me to expect that the asterisk will be associated with a footnote, perhaps specifying the methodology by which "prices held" is determined, e.g., X% of stores offered these items at the same or a higher price for 90 days out of the last 270, or whatever. But I can find no such footnote.

Scrolling on down, I come to https://www.mumsnet.com/articles/childs-brain-health, which says "For more than 25 years, Equazen® has been dedicated to supporting brain function through its unique blend...", and again, I expect the to lead me to a footnote saying something like "According to XYZ study", or perhaps (apologies for my skepticism) "This doesn't actually mean anything but we are only legally obliged to tell you that in this footnote". Whatever, there's a * and it doesn't lead anywhere.

I'm assuming that these random asterisks are the result of the "content provider" copy/pasting from a press release that they've been given, but it doesn't feel very compliant with consumer protection stuff, especially for a Trusted Brandâ„¢ like Mumsnet.

When I saw your post, thought we were going to say about the Viking Asterisk 🤣

Hi @samarrange . Thanks for flagging this up! We'll look into it now and see if we can find out what the asterisks are about.

Just an update to say there was a footnote missing from the bottom. Well spotted! We've edited the page not to add it in.
