Having the same problem,it's an advert for a child's toy or chair in the corner of the top right hand ,then it covers the whole screen and plays for ages .
It's impossible to stay on the page and I have to come of then

Autumnpug7 · 16/09/2025 18:04

At least it's not just me having the problem

dontcallmelen · 16/09/2025 18:52

Same here have reported a few times no “X” that’s visible on the add so you can’t get rid of them, also draining my iPad battery at an alarming rate so irritating.

HebeMumsnet · 17/09/2025 09:38

Hi there @AnchorWHAT and others. We'll try and track this down now. If anyone could click on it and send us the url for the ad itself, that would be wonderful. Would also be useful to know what sort of devices you are using if yo are seeing this? eg iPad, mobile etc.

Gall10 · 17/09/2025 09:41

It’s the having to log in with password every time that gets my goat….am I just being stupid & there’s a way around this?

MagpiePi · 17/09/2025 09:44

I just got the ad that drops down at the top of the screen (iPhone) on opening this thread. It disappeared on its own, but I got flicked back up to the top of the thread.

Still having problems with threads taking a long time to load, I assume because of ads, and everything freezing when trying to post a response. I guess that is why we are seeing numerous double and triple posts where users are tapping the ‘post’ button while everything is frozen.

I was getting this. Even when I got a new phone, it was worse in fact, with pages freezing and glitching and I had to keep restarting my iPhone.

I finally switched to the app which is much better in those terms. I don’t prefer they way the app is set out at all, but I’m trying to get used to it

MagpiePi · 19/09/2025 16:22

I’ve switched to using the DuckDuckGo browser on my laptop and phone for MN. I automatically blocks all of the ads and stops the glitching.

@HebeMumsnet its still happening, driving me mad

Yes.Long time loading, constantly having to reload pages, freezing when trying to type a reply, or page crashing and post lost.

I suspect it's the animated/video ads causing the problem, but whatever it is, the site is virtually unusable on my Fire tablet/Silk browser.

NecklessMumster · 20/09/2025 18:51

When I click on a link within a post it often goes to the link but then doesn't load, so I get a black square where link should be and screen freezes, so I have to close page, and then have to try and find thread again. Android Samsung phone, chrome

Onegingerhead · 20/09/2025 18:58

I have to use the app for this very reason. It also keeps crashing on my laptop and iPad

RitzyMcFee · 20/09/2025 19:00

The app has become unusable though too. The tiny strip you get to post with no way of looking at the OP.
