App still doing stupid things

App posted my message three times and then tells me I’m posting too much and puts me on cool down. Ridiculous!

Hi @JaneJeffer Sorry about this. The system will put you on cool down if you post several times in quick succession but it sounds like this was nothing to do with you! Our apologies! If you can't get back in shortly, drop us another line or hit 'report' on one of your posts and we'll check your account.

Thanks @HebeMumsnetbut I’ve asked before that cool down should not apply to live telly threads in any case

@HebeMumsnet can something please be done about this? The same thing has happened again. The app does multiple posts and then locks me out. Please turn it off for live tv threads.

I already feel excluded from contributing to MN conversations and now I keep getting put on cool-down in the only section I feel safe posting in.

It’s also still doing the thing where what you type doesn’t appear in the message box

Hi JaneJeffer. This does sound frustrating. Thanks for your patience with this.

Would you be able to share with us a screen recording of any of this happening so we can take a look into it? We've not able to recreate it on our side. We appreciate it might not be possible to get a screen recording of the app posting multiple times as it sounds like it's only happening sporadically, but if you can show us the issue with type not appearing in the message box that would also be helpful.

Could you also let us know what version of the app you're on (you can find this by opening the app, selecting the profile menu in the top right hand corner. The version number will be at the bottom of the menu).

Obviously you posted about this happening in mid September, but could you let us know if this was when the issue started happening or if it has been going on for longer?

Hi @HebeMumsnetit’s 45.1.7. The multiple posts have been happening for a while but I don’t know when it started. It used to be double posts but now it does triple or more and that seems to trigger the cool-down. I will try to get a screen recording but that issue is sporadic too.

Similarly, how come when i write a post, it posts fine but doesn't disappear from the box I typed it in? Have to highlight it all, and cut, to get an empty box.

Thanks for this info @JaneJeffer . We have managed to replicate this now but only when we have 'don't show me post previews' toggled off in settings so we're wondering if that button has somehow toggled off in your settings too and that's what's causing it.

Could you check this by doing the following:

1. Open MN app
2. Select the profile menu in the top right hand corner
3. Select 'Settings'
4. Select 'Talk settings'
5. Scroll down to the section titled 'Post previews' - don't show me post previews is here. If the toggle to the right hand side is grey then it's switched off, if it's purple then it's switched on.

Could we also ask if the app ever seems to be laggy just before you post and it submits multiple times? When we recreated this we had to tap the post button multiple times quickly, so we're thinking if the app was lagging it might have looked like it hadn't worked and so you might have tapped it again?

Let us know about those things anyway and hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it soon!

hi @HebeMumsnet the don’t show me previews is on. I didn’t notice the app lagging but it seems to happen when there’s a lot of people posting at the same time chatting about live tv.
