Codeword has changed

Not sure if this is the right place to ask.

I do Codeword every day and today there were no 'Clue letters' at all, the whole puzzle was blank . Managed to do it but it took so much longer than usual , and not much fun .

Is it going to be like this every day or was it an error today ?

I was surprised too!
I located the Q first, which told me where the U would be. That provided enough clues to get in.

The CHECK button was helpful in getting started.

Yes, it would've been impossible to do without the check button !

@butterpuffed - I've become quite addicted to Codeword puzzles and do 4 or 5 every morning.
There are many on-line, of various difficulties. The Saga one is generally the easiest. The Evening Standard one is usually tricky!

butterpuffed · 07/07/2025 10:27

I've always done the one in the Daily Mail Weekend tv mag . I have to buy the paper too, which I never read !

Trust me not to know about the Saga one ~ I worked for SAGA for sixteen years and we always got a free magazine !

Maybe someone who works for MN will tell us whether this change is permanent/error ~ if not, I guess we'll find out tomorrow 🤔

Just went to do it & thought I'd clicked on the crossword!

butterpuffed · 08/07/2025 08:25

Back to normal , no mistaking it for the crossword @diddl 😁

We're pleased it's working again, @butterpuffed - do let us know if any more issues arise and happy puzzling.

Just a quick update. A third party supplies us with these puzzles so we've asked them about it. Apparently the zero clues puzzles aren't a mistake or anything. They're just harder than the others but you can click to reveal letters so it is possible to work them out.

We can see why people would have thought this was a mistake though, and they've agreed not to supply any more zero clues ones to Mumsnet just to avoid any further confusion.

Thanks for letting us know 😊
