Can we mute topics?

There are some topics on MN that I know I'm always going to get riled by, so I'd like them just not to show up for me on the active tab (the first one which shows when I open the app). I don't think there's a way to just opt out of seeing these topics, so I end up hiding each and every post which begins on them. Could we get a mute topic button on the site, please?

This already exists.I have several boards muted and my MN experience is much the better for it.I can't remember how you do it now, but it's somewhere in settings

Hi there @leftliberal . You can indeed hide entire topics. It's in your Talk settings but here's a quick link https://www.mumsnet.com/settings/hidden-threads.

@HebeMumsnet that link gives my a 404 error from my phone. :'(

It's under settings>more settings>talk settings. I only found it this week so I could mute the Christmas board because any talk of Christmas before Advent drives me crazy!

Yes, I have the Conflict in the Middle East board muted, and RF boards - Manage hidden threads and topics under Talk Settings

You can also report any stray threads on AIBU etc where people try to get round topics being moved to specific threads, and MN will move to the boards

I’d love to be able to mute the Ad threads. I am always about to click and then realise it’s an Ad. I get irrationally annoyed skimming down to find threads written by actual MNetters!

I tried from the website instead of the app, and I have managed to mute a whole topic I didn't want to see. Hooray!
