Constant refreshes and draining my phone battery

as above, it’s driving me nuts!

The pages keep blinking well refreshing, so effectively go blank while the site (and my elderly iPhone to be fair) have a good long think.

Mumsnet is also the only site that absolutely drains my phone battery. I suspect these 2 things are related.

I’m on Safari on an iPhone 8. It would be awesome if these issues could be looked at.

in new ‘MN is a uniquely difficult site to browse on my phone’ news, as well as the constant refreshes and hammering my phone’s battery, scrolling freezes pretty much every time I load up a page or try to scroll past an advert. I have to close and reopen Safari to be able to scroll again.

No answer to my post so I guess MNHQ aren’t bothered, but by George MN is an awkward site to use on an iPhone

I can only use MN on a separate browser which blocks ads. That makes the annoying pop ups come up but it's better than the phone being totally drained.

It's the ads running (literally, not figuratively) hundreds of scripts in the background. DH did some kind of thing which tracks how many requests your browser is sending (as an experiment to do with ads) and he was horrified at how much MN sends. It's about as much as the local newspaper websites with lots of ads on them.

Agreed OP. This happens to my iphone on Safari as well. I don't log in on my phone because I cba to work out what my password is, and I think it's something to do with all the adverts, as the freezing/refreshing always seems to happen when I'm trying to scroll past an advert.

Ah X-post.

I don't think it's your phone OP. It's this site.

I only access MN on a laptop and I experience the same issues as you. I think it's to do with the amount of ads.

PITA. But, on the plus side, I'm on here far less!
