Swapping menu items around

Why oh why fix things that aren't broken? You've swapped "Notifications" and "My Activity" around and now my muscle memory is completely and utterly fucked.

Agree - super annoying. Surely the red notifications bit should be at the top? It makes no sense.

Dawnchorusiswonderful · 22/05/2025 14:25

Yes it's like when the supermarkets suddenly switch all the products around to keep the customers on their toes: just totally annoying.

LilyMumsnet · 22/05/2025 15:13

Thanks for flagging this, OP.

We’ve updated the name of ‘My lists’ to ‘My activity’, and reordered some of the menu items.

You’ll now find your Saved and Watched threads under My activity - nothing’s been lost, it’s just reorganisation to make things easier to find.

These changes are part of a wider effort to improve how users engage with their activity on Mumsnet, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on how it goes.

As ever, we really appreciate your feedback.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 22/05/2025 15:43

But why oh why isn't notifications the first item any more?

It's not the end of the world really I know, I know things change and I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I swear I must have clicked the wrong thing about 100 times already today.

Our concern is not that anything has been lost.

Surely the point of the little red notifications bubble is that you then want users to click on the menu option that has the notifications, which should be the thing at the top? If it's so important, why make the second thing in the menu?

I get that MN want people to look at threads even if there is no OP update/notification, but...make it make sense?

Indeed - mine recently moved the rice cakes and chocolate bars. The aisle layout is now:
Bread - sweet snacks but also crackers & rice cakes - salty snacks - drinks 1 - drinks 2 - chocolate based snacks. Unnecessary.

YANBU it's driving me crazy! As bad as Sainsburys.

You should try M&S. It changes almost every week 😂

MiddleAgedDread · 23/05/2025 08:53

@Osirus i could almost cope with them moving things in the supermarket but they don't change the signs above the aisles at the same pace!! One week the signs facing one way down the aisle weren't even the same as the signs facing the other way!! Morrisons has just done it too and literally swapped the fruit and salad from one side of the veg section to the other......why?!?

TheMimsy · 23/05/2025 09:30

@VimesandhisCardboardBoots agreed. I go to the notifications icon for one reason. Notifications. It not being the primary link is creating a poor website UX

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 26/05/2025 18:58

Still keep clicking the wrong thing, it's deeply infuriating.

Yup. Why… why would I want to see that option or page as a priory on a drop down menu. It is making me use the site a little less which is a bonus as it’s just irking me so much from a web site design aspect. It’s now the principle of the matter 😂 so it’s helping my mumsnet addiction.

Me too it's really annoying

Sasha07 · 26/05/2025 20:20

Agree, it should be at the top of the list! It's caught me atleast 4 times today 😫

cyvguhb · 27/05/2025 20:18

And on the subject on moving things around why have the active and I'm on buttons moved all the way down to the bottom of the page and gone small (android phone/Firefox browser)?

The extra scrolling is putting me off using the site
