Hello MN

Why does the site keep crashing all the time? And what can I do about it? I have an iPad.

I don’t have the same problem on my phone. It is frustrating.

”a problem repeatedly occurred on Mumsnet” is the error message.

Thanks in advance

Hi there @mechanicalpencil,

Sorry to hear about this. Can we first ask what browser you're using (unless of course you're on the app?) on both your phone and iPad?

And could you also tell us what you're doing when this error message appears? ie are you just scrolling, or are you trying to reply to a message or clicking on a new thread? Any info you can give us (or even better, a video or screenshot of it happening) will help us work out what's going on here.

@HebeMumsnet hello,
thanks for your reply.
i am using Safari on both my phone and iPad.
i’musually reading a thread, have got a few posts in, then the screen after the first few posts goes blank, then everything goes black and the error message pops up.
I will try and get a screenshot.

@HebeMumsnet I am having the same problem with Safari on an iPhone. The page takes ages to load, then resets with the message above. I then have to close a video advert - which eats up a huge amount of data given they appear multiple times on each page - with a tiny 'x', then scroll past it again about three times. I live in London where the mobile signal is notoriously poor - the combination of that and the formatting of the adverts is making MN almost unusable. Is there any way the video adverts can be reconsidered? I don't mind ads but the pop-up videos are a nightmare.

I just had the same problem in Australia. Mumsnet wouldn’t load and it said that there was a problem between the server and connection or something. No screenshots sorry. I’m using Safari on an iPhone.

Oddly enough page numbers have now disappeared from threads. They were there 10 minutes ago before the problem occurred. I want to be removed from the infinite scroll test group. Infinite scroll is crap.

Same here on Safari on iPhone. The ads are making the site unusable.

any update please MN?
I’ve not managed to take a screen shot as the message disappears quickly

This happens to me too on iPhone too. App is fine

Nomorecoconutboosts · 24/05/2025 22:55

I can only use the app now
i use safari on iPad and iPhone for other sites.
initially the iPad couldn’t cope with Mumsnet then the phone had the same issue - this was weeks ago
it even started affecting other sites that I tried to use afterwards, kept freezing then crashing
i was constantly clearing the cache made no difference
i have no desire to change browsers
i gather the issue for most of us is the sheer volume and loading time for them that Mumsnet has on every page.
