Safari not working

Anyone else find that Safari is just not working on MN now? I’m getting that thing where I’m scrolling past an Ad mid-thread and I just hit an area of white emptiness and I can’t scroll past it - or it takes 5 seconds to ‘refresh’ and then jumps to the main body of the thread and I can’t work out if it’s overshot and I’ve missed content? That’s been happening for a while. The latest is that it’s just not responding when I tap on a thread title - like it’s frozen.

I’ve been using Safari on my I-phone for over a decade with no issues. I have started using Chrome now and it appears to work fine. But I would prefer to use Safari as that’s how I usually browse the internet and I prefer its interface.

Anyone else?

Yes, it has been awful for the last week. I cannot navigate to other websites after using MN, as iPad just freezes. I also use Safari. This has been reported in the last week or so, but nothing appears to have been done, it is so frustrating. My workaround is to just close Safari and reopen, which does help.

Hi there.

Thanks so much for posting and we're sorry you're having issues.

There are a few things you could try with Safari first if you haven't already:
1: Clear your safari cache and cookies
2: Check for iOS updates, just in case there’s a fix in a recent version

If you’re happy to help us look into it further, please let us know your iPhone model and iOS version (and whether you’re logged in or browsing logged out). If it keeps happening, a screen recording could help us pin it down too. We're glad Chrome is working in the meantime but we’ll do our best to get to the bottom of it. Thanks, all.
