Always being sent to the bottom of the page

It’s not all threads, but several threads, that when I have added a bookmark and go back after more posts have appeared, instead of going to the bookmark my page is load at the very bottom of the page, I.e at the social media links and copyright notice. I then have to scroll up to find where I was to continue reading. It’s really annoying and I’m not sure what’s causing it.

I’m on the web on safari using an iPhone 13 running iOS 18.4.1

I've noticed this happens if I click quote on a post and then change my mind and click clear quote. Is it that? If you then write a post it reverts to normal

It’s not something I’ve noticed @FortyElephants but I’ll watch for that just in case. Thanks. I’m on the new pope thread for example and it’s happening there but I haven’t gone to post recently.

I get this as well, where I have started a reply, changed my mind about posting and cleared it. Next time I reload the thread, I'm always taken right down to the bottom. I'm using the website on a PC using Chrome.

Morning, everyone. We're still looking into this. If you're affected could you try clearing your cache and see if that makes any difference?

It happens to me when I delete a reply I have typed. Even when I click the bin icon twice, going back in the thread brings me straight down to the type a reply box, where there's a typing cursor flashing.

I have tried clearing the cache for a separate problem, it doesn't make any difference

I’m having this too regardless of cleared cache etc, if I go to a thread, it will take me to the bottom instead of bookmark, if I click on a notification (like someone reacted to your post or quoted it) again it will go to the bottom instead of that post

Hi. Since I started the thread I am confident it’s the same issue. When k have typed, changed my mind, and deleted. I cleared my cache and no different.

I get the same if I've typed a reply then changed my mind and deleted it.

I only use the app and get this a lot.
the only good thing about the new app is that it has reduced my mumsnet idle browsing as it is so clumsy to use.

I find this really frustrating too - it doesn’t always seem to happen, haven’t noticed when it does/doesn’t but I’d say maybe 50/50.

It happened when I clicked on this thread! Then have to scroll back up to read the OP.

It’s definitely not just if I’ve started a reply. This was directly from Active Convos, click on thread title and end up at the bottom of the page.

Yes this always happens when I’ve started to post, decided not to, and then every time I go back to the thread it’s takes me back to that same page right at bottom no matter how many further pages I’ve read subsequently.

Yep it doesn’t flip back to the top either

I am getting this every time I delete a planned response and it’s driving me mad. Please sort it out. Mobile site, Safari.

Still happening here as well. It discourages me from posting as sometimes I’ll draft and delete and when I come back having formulated my thought I need to catch up on the thread to make sure I’m not being redundant so just want to go back to my bookmark and not the bottom.

This is still happening. It does seem to be related to the user abandoning/ deleting a response - oh, that's interesting: I tried putting in a colon & space & the page jumped again, about half a screen down. Yeah, that's been happening for quite a while, too - don't know what causes it.
