Dynadot link.

I wrote a PM tonight and it did whatever scanning process parses PMs now and apparently substituted some text with a link to the dynadot website.

I don't have dynadot on my cut and paste buffer so I'm pretty certain I didn't cut and paste it in error. In fact it's impossible because the link incorporated some of the text of my post and an accidental paste wouldn't have done that.

Am I right in thinking dynadot do the parsing of PM's and it went wrong?

Oh my goodness this is Double-Dutch to me.

It's genuinely upsetting because I literally have no idea of what OP is talking about.

Leafy3 · 23/04/2025 23:25

So you wrote a private message and the moderating tool seems to have inserted a rogue link?

NCForThatForumM · 23/04/2025 23:27

Exactly that.

I wish I had been that succinct.

I'm not bothered, just curious.

So what on earth is dynadot and what has it got to do with posting on MN?
Is this another new esoteric thing designed to;exclude ordinary people from MN?

Leafy3 · 23/04/2025 23:29

No idea I'm afraid, never heard of dynadot before, but i trust a mumsnet person will be along in the morning to explain 🤞

PickAChew · 23/04/2025 23:34

Dynadot is a Web host company that parses domains. I doubt they have anything o do with pms. Did the text that was changed look like it could be a link if autocarrot had its way?

Leafy3 · 23/04/2025 23:36

autocarrot
Was this deliberate because I think I'll steal it

Ohmeohmygoodness · 23/04/2025 23:43

Just googled " parses ".

Honestly not getting at OP but I feel I have outlived my useful life when I read threads like this.

This is the exact link:

www.dynadot.com/forsale/helped.me?drefid=2071

Don't follow it unless you're brave, but I followed it and it's just suggesting a domain, I think.

"helped me" was part of the text I was typing.

I hadn't considered auto correct. I've never known it add a link but I could imagine android or Chrome playing that kind of game. Perhaps it's nothing to do with mumsnet.

It definitely was deliberate. I stole it myself because it sums the function up quite nicely.

Deliberate or not, I'm stealing it. Superb.

Test...

This helped.me test the test

Edit: just checking to see if a rogue full stop would have caused confusion. Clearly not

Excellent. Am having that.

I wasn't sharing a link, I was just typing.

I'm not bothered, just curious. If it's not a known issue with mumsnet I guess PickAChew was right.
