ICK reaction please

So a few of us are over Here talking about how people (mostly men tbf) have given us the ICK for various reasons, mostly hilarious.

Can we please have an ick reaction? I'm fairly sure we would get good use out of it.

I realise this is technically a TAAT, but since it's a site request, can we let it slide?

Thanks in advance.

Funniest reason you got "the ick"... | Mumsnet

Oh please no. I can't stand that word/ expression. I'm put off more by anyone using it than whatever it is they're referring to.

WxyzWxyz · 13/04/2025 01:17

Well I can just imagine how some posters would abuse it if that was introduced.

I'm heartily sick of the number of people who think it's acceptable to use the laugh reaction to mock and ridicule serious posts by other posters. They would have a field day if there was an ick reaction as well.

And that's apart from it being a pretty horrible word in its own right.

DiscoBeat · 13/04/2025 01:21

I wish people would use proper words. I hate the word 'ick' (it would give me the ick if I used it!)

HebeMumsnet · 14/04/2025 12:21

Thanks for getting in touch @singlewhitetrashheap .

We do try to keep the reactions positive where possible. An 'ick' sounds like something that might be easily abused, as other posters mention... We'll give it some thought though. Out of interest, what would an 'ick' reaction even look like?

EffortlesslyDecluttering · 14/04/2025 12:26

I think this would be abused, used to mock posts etc, it's a horrible word, please don't do this.

Nannyfannybanny · 14/04/2025 12:30

It's a very irritating American slang, means according to the OE , dictionary" to make one feel nauseous,"but is usually used in completely the wrong content.
