Photos appear with thread title

Why on earth do photos now appear before you’ve even clicked on a thread? Whilst eating and scrolling I’ve just seen a massive photo of a child’s disgustingly snotty nose.

Hardly the end of the world I know, but Mumsnet have only recently had a spate of attacks where photos of child sexual abuse have been posted in threads. If photos now show before you’ve even clicked on a thread, so many more people would be exposed to those photos. And, tbh, even without going to extremes, there are so many photos posted on this site that I don’t want to see. People regularly post photos of discharge and mucus plugs 😬

Threads don't generally display previews of photos but we're wondering if what you're looking at is a whole topic displayed in OP view rather than compact view.

When you're viewing a topic in OP view there are images attached to the OP. OP view is only available on certain topics (such as Style and Beauty) and they'll show in this style by default, but you can change this by going to your talk settings here: https://www.mumsnet.com/settings/talk

You can also change the view once you're in the topic by selecting the icon to the right of where it says 'Most recently updated'.

Thank you. Yes it’s on the parenting board, if the OP has posted a photo it shows up before you’ve even clicked on it to read the thread. I don’t think this is a good format. The title says “trigger warning” but the photo is right there. I had no idea you could change the settings and I will do that but why not remove this altogether? What’s the point of having the photo showing with the thread title? This wasn’t a feature before the recent update.
