On the chat thread about tips for saving money, I've read it and commented on it, but in the Active List it's still showing blue rather than purple.

Doesn't matter which browser I try, it's the same.

Using the desktop site, on a MacBook Air if that helps.

Hi @BIWI, thanks for letting us know about this. This should only happen on private browsers - is this happening when you are logged in? Which browsers have you tried using? Please let me know so that we can investigate what's going on here. Thanks

BIWI · 27/03/2025 15:02

It’s happening on both Safari and Chrome. I’m always logged in!!!

I've just tried Yahoo, and it seems to be working with that browser. Will go back and check Safari and Chrome now @BellaMumsnet

OK - it's working on Yahoo and Safari but not on Chrome.

I'm going to turn my laptop off just in case it's me!

That didn't resolve the Chrome issue.

No idea if that helps @BellaMumsnet!

Thanks for the extra info! Glad to hear it’s working on Safari. For Chrome, a couple of things might be causing the issue. Could you check if you're in private browsing/incognito mode? That can sometimes affect how things load. Also, certain browser extensions or accessibility settings could be interfering. If you've recently cleared your cache, that might also have an impact on the read status. Let us know how you get on.

How would I know if I’m in private browsing mode? To my knowledge I’ve never set that up.

And I haven’t recently cleared my cache.

Hi @BIWI, it is possible to have changed to private browsing mode accidentally. On Chrome if you go to: File > new incognito window
This would open private browsing mode and chrome doesn't save your history. If you close Chrome entirely and reopen it, this should open an ordinary browsing window (non-private). More info can be found here: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95464?hl=en-GB&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop

You can browse the web more privately in Incognito mode. Open Incognito mode Important: When you use an Incognito window, you can browse more privately. You can switch between Incognito

I definitely haven’t gone incognito - but closing Chrome down and opening it up again seems to have fixed it. Thanks @BellaMumsnet Flowers
