Quoting taking me to the end of the thread

SmoothEncounter · 25/03/2025 12:33

On the new style app, if I quote someone in my reply, it posts it and leaves me at the bottom of the thread, so I then have to scroll all the way back up to find my place where I was. It is a tad annoying especially on a long thread! Can it be returned to the old way, ie after posting you are back to where you’ve read to on the thread please, to the post quoted.

Book mark where you are before quoting?

Hi there @SmoothEncounter. A few people have mentioned that they preferred this the way it was on the old app so we have it on our list of things to review.

In the meantime, as @TeaRoseTallulah suggests, you can bookmark before you post so you know where you're up to. Although if you do bookmark and then post, you'll need to exit the thread and open it again to be taken to your bookmark. But that's a good way to use bookmarks and should provide a workaround for now.

Huh? Why would you reply to a thread before reading to the bottom anyway?

I'd imagine if it's a long thread you might not want to read 200 replies before posting

But then you risk being a "cancel the cheque" wanker!

Sometimes I see a specific post I want to comment on, so will post before I get to the end.

I feel it’s highly unlikely I’m the only one!

About 30 people had the urge to correct a post on https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5297745-to-not-use-proper-spellings-when-naming-your-child?page=37&reply=143114346.

These posters have become a running joke in the thread now. The poster has a very polite copied & pasted reply & to be fair, some of them have noticed & apologised for not having RTFT.
