Phone heating up and draining battery when on MN!

Phone is an iPhone 16, fully updated, cookies cleared, background refresh turned off, using safari.

Just wondering if anyone else has this? It may not be a MN issue but it’s only happening when I’m on MN! Other websites are fine.

I get this too

Kissedbyfire1 · 24/03/2025 15:18

Same. iPhone 14

It’s the adverts, in my opinion. I don’t see ads anymore and it no longer gets hot.

Same, iPhone, even worse in the app.

CatsorDogsrule · 24/03/2025 18:27

Me too on Android. (I use the website as the App is dreadful.)

Do you use an ad blocker?

Morning, everyone. Could we ask for a few extra details from anyone experiencing this issue please? Could you let us know your:

  • device
  • software version e.g. 18.3.2
  • browser i.e. chrome, safari etc

Thanks!

KnickerFolder · 26/03/2025 10:27

FWIW I have had this issue for years on various different iPhones. I also used to get the message “this webpage is using significant energy” on my iMac whenever I browsed MN. I’ve never had it happen with any other site.

Weepixie · 26/03/2025 10:29

Same here. But not just MN.

Turmericcall · 26/03/2025 10:30

I get this too, but TBH I've always thought it was beause I spend far too long on it. I don't spend anywhere near as long browsing other websites to know if the same thing would happen.

Samsung Galaxy A52, Samsung Internet Web page, Android Version 14, One UI 6.1.

miffmufferedmoof · 27/03/2025 12:37

iPhone 8, iOS 16.7.7, safari.
it doesn’t happen every time I’m on MN, but often, and it hasn’t happened to me on any other website

Phunkychicken · 27/03/2025 12:42

me!

iPhone 13 mini, iOS 18.3.2 using chrome webpage
