Hiding a thread without opening it

We've all got those topics that are just too sensitive, or ones we don't want to see, and I guess that's why the 'hide thread' button exists.

But why can't we hide a thread without opening it first? We can watch one without opening it, so it's clearly possible.

If, for example, I was struggling with grief after a loved one died of cancer and found threads about cancer triggering, then I shouldn't have to click on the very thing I find upsetting to hide it. Kind of defeats the object really.

So MN, could we please have this simple modification, or let me know why not.

Thank you

It lets me hide posts by hitting the 3 dots at the end of the subject. I don't need to open it first.

I often hide threads that are triggering and I just don't read them.

The 'hide' button is right at the top when you open the thread so there's no need to do anything other than click it.

I don't get that. The only option under the 3 dots for me is watch. I wonder why they are different. I'm using my phone, not the ap.

And yes, I can open and hide, but for some people that will still be upsetting/stressful. Just seems silly when a tiny change could be made.

It's not so much for me tbh, I just think it would make it more pleasant for some people and there's no downside.

If you're on a laptop just click on the minus sign.

You can hide whole topics if you go into settings.

I'm on my phone (Android, not sure if that makes a difference)

I only get the hide option from clicking Active threads. If I go into a forum, such as Chat or TV Addicts, then the hide option is no longer there. I wonder if this is why posters are seeing it differently rather than IOS or browser?

That's odd.

I'm using android and chrome (all current/new versions).

Why is it different for everyone? Odd.

Morning everyone! You can hide threads directly from Active without opening the thread by changing your talk settings and selecting 'Yes' under 'Let me hide threads on my active feed'.

Hope that helps.

Nope.

It's a mystery now. I love a mystery more than I care about this subject tbh.

Thank you for clearing that up.
