This thread was just deleted "as it was shared on socials" (but you omitted to say it was shared by MN itself)

DH will not discuss sexless marriage - what next?
This thread has been deleted
As we explained on the thread, we're sorry but OP has asked us to delete this as it was shared on socials and she's very concerned that the details she's given would be identifying, so we agreed to take it down"

Checked MNs fb and there it was. I know you have to share things and promote the site but cant you think a bit before choosing what threads you do that with.
For all we know the OPs DH could turn nasty if its worked out who she is.

Tbf I didn’t see the thread but it is a public forum with threads regularly posted in the news, nothing anyone posts on here is confidential.

So MN posted it on their socials?
So much for MN being a supportive site if that's the kind of thread they share on the MN fb page.

I’ve seen countless Mumsnet stories on news websites which will get way more eyes than Mumsnet socials… everything is public…

Thanks for posting - and very sorry, we shouldn't have shared this thread. Our selection process is semi-automated, and while we aim to not share very sensitive threads, this one slipped through. We're now actively looking at refining the process so threads like this are not shared in future.

JenniferBooth · 24/03/2025 13:53

@BeckyAMumsnet thanks for replying.

On the deleted thread i posted about a post i saw a couple of months ago An Mner said her mild mannered no libido husband suddenly turned very nasty when she asked for and began the divorce process
This is why i was worried about the OP. These men can become abusive once the status quo is threatened.

"Semi automated selection process" for socials and volunteers running nightwatch.

Remember, the content is free for mumsnet as the site users provide the content.

Dear oh dear. It's fairly shambolic.

Can you explain that a little more please?

In what way is it semi automated? Is it automatic that certain threads post to social media, or is there a list of potential threads automatically generated based on programmed criteria, which MN then pick from and post?

spottedinthewilds · 24/03/2025 21:02

@JenniferBooth thank you. I am the original OP of that post.

My heart sunk when I saw it on FB.

They did promptly remove it and apologise.

But it just makes a mockery of the whole site if people don’t feel they can share sensitive topics for fear of it being blazoned across FB or even worse the Daily Bloody Fail!!
