App Problem on IPad

I mentioned this on one of the threads where the new app is being discussed, but it probably got lost among the comments. When I open a box to comment on a thread, then tap the background to shrink the box, maybe to recheck what another poster said, I am unable to access my comment again. It remains as a one line box at the bottom of the screen and refuses to open when I tap it. I then end up having to discard the comment as there is no way back in. It also happens if I go to use one of the generic emojis (not the Mumsnet ones.) I tap the emoji button, type the emoji, then when I tap the keyboard button to resume typing, the comment shrinks to the bottom of the screen and locks me out. This happens on the iPad app. The iPhone app appears to be fine.

Yes! I’m having this problem too on my iPad. I can’t get the keyboard up again to continue typing my message so have to discard it and start again.
Very annoying.

Thanks for letting us know about this. We are aware of an issue whereby when you have the keyboard open and are replying on iPad, if you use the 'close keyboard' button that's integrated into the device keyboard, the keyboard closes but you then aren't able to open it again. It sounds like this might be the same thing and we are working on it at the moment but we're having trouble replicating the problem precisely.

Could anyone having this issue clarify whether you're using the little 'close keyboard' button that's part of your keyboard to close it down or if you're closing it using other methods i.e. by tapping on the thread in the background and still having the issue where you can't open the reply again...

If anyone could share a screen recording of all of the problems they're having and send it to us via email at [email protected] that would be amazing.

Alternatively, you should also be able to drag the keyboard down to collapse it by holding the little tab at the top of the reply box and then dragging it down.

We'll keep an eye out for any further info from anyone here and will feed that into the work we're doing. Thanks again.

Thanks @HebeMumsnet. I have been unable to return to a comment in both scenarios you mention. So, tapping the keyboard button to return to the comment after, say, using one of the generic emojis, or tapping the background to have another quick look at the thread I’m replying to. The post I’m typing gets shrunk to a one line box at the bottom of the screen and can’t be accessed again.

Ive just had a go and can continue with the post if I click the thread in the background but not if I use the close keyboard button on my keyboard.

I want to change my issue to just this @HebeMumsnet. I tried tapping on the background and was able to resume my comment. Sorry, I’m not sure what I was doing before! But tapping the little keyboard button still renders the comment inaccessible.
