App update - large font

SevenKingsMustDie · 14/03/2025 07:51

Hi - my Mumsnet app updated overnight and now the font is really large, which makes it tricky to read.

Is there any way I can make it smaller?

It also doesn’t capitalise the first word of a new paragraph automatically, which is frustrating! Any tips?

Thanks!

I have the opposite problem , the font on mine is really small and I am struggling a bit to read it.
how odd

UraniumArthur · 14/03/2025 08:39

I found it was my iphone setting for the app that needed tweaking to make it smaller (it was set to 190%).

@UraniumArthur that’s interesting as I’m in iPhone too… how do I find the setting to change it?

I had this. i phone. I had to change settings. Really irritating. Because now all is tiny. Whereas all was fine before. My email and all other settings were fine. Thanks MN'et. Not!

Display and brightness, Text Size.
I’ve got mine set to one below the max on my phone (longsighted) - that seems fine to me for the MN app.
On my iPad I’ve got it just above the middle, again it seems fine to me.

Mine is too large too.. makes it onerous to browse threads. Does anyone know if you can you change it for specific apps? The rest of my phone is fine so I don’t want an entire phone update…

hopeishere · 14/03/2025 18:15

I have my text set to larger for messages and WhatsApp and stuff but it is making the Mumsnet text massive!!

ErrolTheDragon · 14/03/2025 19:30

I wonder if it depends which specific model of iPhone you have? Mine is the smallest, the SE.

LegoTherapy · 14/03/2025 20:46

The lack of capital letters after hitting return is really annoying.
I also don’t like the extra step to flipping. I’m not a fan in general although I do like knowing how many new posts are on a thread, being able to vote and being able to edit.
The font is also too big but I guess I don’t need my glasses. It just feels less private and people can read more easily over my shoulder.

LegoTherapy · 14/03/2025 20:46

I’m on an iPhone and the software is up to date.

On the iPhone 15 I drag down from the top right hand corner while in the men app and select the Aa for text size. You can then adjust either for everything or just for the app you have open at the time.

SevenKingsMustDie · 15/03/2025 07:17

So I’ve changed the font size in settings, which has made it perfect for Mumsnet but way too small for everything else! 🤦🏻‍♀️

This doesn’t have the Aa on mine when I do this, but I’m on an iPhone 14, which might be why…

Afternoon, everyone. We do have dynamic type on both apps, so you should be able to adjust it. However, it sounds like lots of you are still finding it too big on Mumsnet. We'd like to be able to get this sorted. If you use other apps where you find the type size just right could you let us know what these are so we can hopefully look into matching to that? Thanks!

My LinkedIn text size is perfect in my normal settings which adjust my MN text size to one scale larger than I’d like. HTH!

My iPad seems right to me in MN and other apps with dynamic type

And on my iPhone SE I need the setting one click below the maximum to get it big enough for MN. I’m not sure I’m using much else on there which uses dynamic type… quite a few apps are too small.

The Display and Brightness worked, I have adjusted the text size and can now read it easily again

redrobinredrobin · 17/03/2025 16:39

Would be good to be able to change text size IN THE APP ONLY! I don’t need it changed globally on my phone. And as side note, I much much preferred the look of the old app (iPhone). This new look seems like a retrograde step.

Agreed! Aside from the massive text I preferrred the old app.

Still no mnhq answer on this?

SevenKingsMustDie · 19/03/2025 11:15

Hahaha - when I clicked on the link it took me out of the app and into a browser - a demonstration of another frustrating feature of the new app 😂😂
