Why is my reply hidden?

Hi, I posted on a thread and it shows the message "This reply has been hidden until the MNHQ team can have a look at it."

Please could you let me know what has triggered this, so I don't inadvertently do it again?

OP posts:

That's a night watch volunteer hiding a reply someone has flagged to them.

MNHQ work from early till 10.30/11pm and probably spend several hours every morning looking through the ones hidden by Night Watch so it might get put back.

EuclidianGeometryFan · 27/02/2025 13:27

I posted it late this morning, so not night watch.

It is now unhidden, but I don't know why it was hidden in the first place.

Certain words automatically trigger it.

One is for a specific foot item, another is for a chewy tablet beginning with gum.

Same with uploading photos at the moment due to that sick and twisted person.

This is the text of my post:

"OP, I think you need to tread a little carefully here.
He has only been putting in 50% of the bills into the joint account, despite earning a lot more than you. I know you said he pays for holidays and presumably other 'big' stuff, but I bet he has loads of savings and investments stashed away.
His contempt for you and misogyny is evident; he does not see you in any way as 'equal' to him, so I would guess he is not going to react well to the possibility of divorce.
I conclude he is highly likely to try and hide money and assets from you during the divorce process, and to make everything as difficult and legally expensive as possible.
To use the MN cliches, keep your powder dry, get your ducks in a row, and play your cards close to your chest.
In other words, don't mention the 'D' word, or let on just how unhappy you are, until after you have done your investigations into his finances and taken copies of all important documents.
Do you know about ALL his savings, investments, bank accounts, pensions, crypto, etc.? Take evidence of account numbers, balances, etc. ready to give to your lawyer.
You say he is a good person with a heart of gold, but divorce has a way of bringing out the worst of even the very best human beings."

Was it the word 'crypto'?
It would be good to know - it is not nice to feel my post had to be hidden.

Aaargh - because I copied and pasted my original post here, I now have a post hidden on this thread!

Did you mention a certain electronic money type thingy?
Or a cheap Chinese website?
That usually does it

MrsPernicious · 27/02/2025 13:57

You could try to C&P it here, one paragraph at a time. Then the naughty word could be homed in on.

Sorry, I shouldn't laugh but that's tickled me. At least they will know which post Grin

yes - that is the word.
Glad I now know.

Just curious, is it just c-r-y-p-t-o, or variants also. I have a friend who refers to it as c-r-a-p-t-o, and I'm sure there are other fun variants too.

LittleGreenDragons · 27/02/2025 15:08

Oh..... they've had lots of scammers creating threads offering to manage your "investments", I bet that's why. I used to see them a lot at night.

midlandsmummy123 · 03/05/2025 00:02

feck this has just happened to me - literally suggesting to a poster that the c word is risky and I wouldn't advice doing it and my post is automatically hidden! Hasn't mumsnet got AI bots on this by now.

BeckyAMumsnet · 03/05/2025 14:35

Hi @EuclidianGeometryFan apologies - as you've figured out, your post was hidden by our spam catcher. We generally don't list all the terms that will be flagged but if you find this happens again, please drop us a line.

What foot item?
I can’t even think what the thing beginning with gum is.
I must be slow 😂

MNChiefInspectorThreadPolice · 03/05/2025 15:29

@blueleavesgreensky

foot thing = things you wear to do PE in (there’s a longstanding troll who likes to post about them)

gum = Haribo type of sweet, with cannabis associations (I believe)
