Private messaging disabled

More so ‘have I been unreasonable’ ? My private messaging facility has been disabled. Does anyone know what this means? I had exchanged private messages with a couple of other users about baby names but that’s all. All very normal stuff. How can I find out why mine has been disabled?

Hi there @Itsoneofthose. Yes, as others have explained, we've disabled PMs until we can put in further protections for our users. We'll post to update everyone on site stuff once they're in use again. Thanks for your patience.

Is it not possible to allow older messages to be visible? I had written some info into a message to another user relating to a volunteer scheme that is no longer available online and I want to copy it to send to someone else as an example, really disappointed that I can't access it :-(

I used to PM people just to say thanks or follow up on a thread without clogging it. Now I’ll probably use text messaging instead if we've exchanged numbers before. It’s not the same, though — sometimes I liked the privacy of PMs for quick off-topic chats without switching platforms. I get why they removed it, but still missing that little feature.

You are responding to a thread from February... and the problem has been resolved. If you can't pm someone then make a new thread to ask MN why only you can't.
