Name changing in quotes

Hi MN,

I was taking part in a thread and quoted another member. It posted, but about five minutes later the name in the quote changed. A new comment also appeared on the thread with this new name.

Is this a site glitch? Or if someone changes their name during a thread, does it change their name on all the comments on that thread?

Name changing within a thread was supposed to have been disabled a while back.

You can no longer change name in the same thread. It always reverts to the same you first posted in on the thread.

Hi there @JoyousGreyOrca . This sounds very strange. We're wondering if we were doing a retrospective name change on the thread at the same time, which we do occasionally do...

To protect the innocent could you hit the report button on your post at the top of this thread and in the comments let us know what the thread and name of the poster was and we'll take a look?
