Adverts covering over half my screen!

Is this absolutely necessary? Sad

I get that there needs to be adverts on here, (if we want Mumsnet for free,) but there are four adverts here, (for the same product: TOYOTA.) And they're taking up 50-60% of the screen!

I feel it only needs one advert to promote a product. Why are there FOUR of them advertising the same thing? I can barely see what I am posting. Look how small the window is to type in. It's not all the time, but it is some of the time.

HAALLLP! Confused

Please can someone stop this happening?!

(See attached pic.)

Hi there @BatchCookBabe,

Can we ask what you were doing when this ad appeared? ie were you posting a new post, replying to someone, editing a post etc? And if you could tell us what device and browser you are using as well that would be great. The ad looks legitimate but may not be behaving quite as it should and so we'd like to recreate this issue to work out what's going wrong. Thanks!

I'm having a similar issue, massive adverts for Cottages.com taking over the screen in middle of trying to read a thread. I can't get past it to read the rest of the thread!
I'm using my Lenovo tablet. So frustrating!

Hi @HebeMumsnet Thanks for responding. Smile Yeah, I was answering a thread (composing a post) as I think the enclosed pic (on my OP,) should show hopefully. I am using 'edge' and it's on a laptop.

@HebeMumsnet

It's happening again this morning. (Happened a few times yesterday too.) Here's a pic of how it looks this morning. (Disney adverts this time. 3 of them and not 4, but they still take up half the screen!)

Hi again @BatchCookBabe and others. We're still looking into this - thank you for the screenshots.

One more thing that might help is if you could let us know the url of the pages you were on when these ads appeared. Just to be clear - we want the url of the page you were looking at on Mumsnet at the time, rather than the url of the ad itself, for the moment. With the Disney one, we can probably work it out from the screenshot, but if there are any more, that would be brilliant. Thank you! Flowers

Just a quick update for you all - we think we've fixed this issue now. But if anyone experiences anything similar, please do let us know, along with the info requested above.

Thanks!

BatchCookBabe · 26/02/2025 21:49

Thanks @HebeMumsnet Sorry to not have responded to the question regarding the url. I have been working most of the day! Thanks for the update on the fix! Hope it stays fixed. Smile
