It's not something I've ever heard being recommended before, certainly.

GentleOtter · 10/05/2008 14:26

Where is tip of the day ? What is it anyway?

JackieNo · 10/05/2008 14:26

On the home page.

ExtraFancy · 10/05/2008 14:28

It reminds me of that old wives' tale about 'toughening your nipples up' with a nailbrush when you're pregnant, ready for breastfeeding. No thanks!

Lulumama · 10/05/2008 14:28

i disagree .. a lot of teething babies love having their gums rubbed when they are teething... maybe not with a toothbrush, but certainly with a clean finger...

MrsWeasley · 10/05/2008 14:28

agreed with cod (as blardy usual)

I so wanted to tell her to get a grip

Lulumama · 10/05/2008 14:29

agree that hardening up the gums is not neccesary, but rubbing the gums can help

GentleOtter · 10/05/2008 14:30

Found it, thanks. Jeez!

zippitippitoes · 10/05/2008 14:30

do they really have anew tip every day where do they all come from and no wonder they are gob shite

Hecate · 10/05/2008 14:35

I used to press down gently on my boys' gums when they were teething. It helped them. I tried this because I remembered when my wisdom teeth were coming through, I used to press on my gum and it actually helped! If you think about it - why do teething rings exist for them to bite down on?

ComeOVeneer · 10/05/2008 14:37

Gums don't need hardening, and cooled boiled water, why do you need to boil it, by that time they are shoving grubby hands and all manner of things in there mouth?!?!! Utter tosh.

JustineMumsnet · 12/05/2008 12:25

They come from you and we wouldn't say they were all gobshite...

marmadukescarlet · 12/05/2008 12:27

I wouldn't have thought it very safe to shove a hard plastic object into the mouth of a small being with little head control?

(didn't ever see my tip about sticking pics on the inside of kitchen cupboards)

My tip is better. Rub the gums with guauze. doesn't hurt and toughens up the gums. Worked a treat for DS1. I know as we didn't do the other 2 and we knew about every last tooth!

JustineMumsnet · 12/05/2008 12:51

ok thanks we'll bin today's tip.

AbbyMumsnet · 12/05/2008 13:11

It's official, today's tip is not "utter shite".

We trust it will meet with your approval.

AbbyMumsnet · 12/05/2008 13:38

Oh come on. We change it for you and you don't even bother to comment?

bundle · 12/05/2008 13:40

i hadn't really thought that people took any noticeof them..i just do them for the competitions and tbh i put down whatever shite comes to mind.

do like humphrey's tip though...

TigerFeet · 12/05/2008 13:40

lolol @ the new tip

have you been saving that up for when someone rubbished your own hand-picked one?

mummyjaguar · 12/05/2008 13:42

LOL - like the new tip!

SSSandy2 · 12/05/2008 13:42
