Is it possible to find out why my thread was deleted?

I'd posted, in the politics forum, "Do you think Zelensky will be alive a year from now?"

This is a depressing subject, but it seemed like a valid question, and a few people seemed to be interested. What was the problem?

Does sound a bit grim to be honest - inciting speculation on someone being killed.

B1indEye · 18/02/2025 06:50

What does the deletion message say?

hamstersarse · 18/02/2025 07:03

Someone very sensitive and censorial will have reported it and mn take the path of least resistance?

Hi OP

We've just reviewed the thread and this looks like a moderation error on our end, sorry about that. We've reinstated it now.

Please give us a shout if there's anything else you'd like us to look at.

I get annoyed when threads get deleted normally, this one seemed in particularly bad taste, at the very least the thread title.

It's a bit ghoulish. Asking where you think he will be politically or something might be less grim?

Well, much of life is grim - especially international news these days!

Really? The titles I object to are useless non-specific ones like "Help!" or "Need opinions" or "Where can I find this?"

I quite like those!

Why would you like vague, non-specific title lines like "Help!" or "Need opinions" or "Where can I find this?"? They just waste time. Maybe you have unlimited time on your hands, but I don't think most people do.

I'd far prefer titles like "Help with wedding etiquette!" or "Need opinions on how to approach my boss with a problem" or "Where can I find a good recipe for cassoulet?"

Ok, we differ then. I wasn’t keen on "Do you think Zelensky will be alive a year from now?" because it was crass and I couldn’t imagine titling a thread that way. But all good.

Funnily enough though, I don’t have unlimited time on my hands. Probably like a lot of people I’m here for conversations to distract from the relentlessness of life’s awfulness. Thanks for the suggestion though, I like the idea that I like simple but cryptic thread titles due to some shortcoming in my personality 😊

I have just had a message deleted for saying, in a nutshell, that a woman was misguided in going for a walk in the woods alone immediately after being asked for sex by a stranger. I was not rude, just concerned that the woman should have thought twice before doing something that could well have endangered her life.
i can’t see anything wrong in this as I was trying to protect this person. I am beginning to think that Mumsnet are getting the wrong people to police posts. Quite frankly, it’s made me want to leave. Gransnet is so much better than this!

Edited

Well, it's not that I was being cryptic - I think I was pretty straightforward.
But if it's a choice between a vague title, a bland title, or an eye-catching title, I'd choose the latter.
So, between:
Opinions?
Worried about Ukraine.
Do you think Zelensky will be alive a year from now?
you can see why I'd pick the more interesting, engaging one.
As it happens, I've been brooding about this since November, and this is exactly how I was putting the question to myself.
