No

RustyBear · 08/05/2008 23:35

If you press F11 you'll get a bit more depth to the page (you lose the menu bars at the top) On my screen it's not enough to bring the post message button onto the screen, but it may be on yours, it depends on the resolution & proportions of your screen

brimfull · 08/05/2008 23:38

hmmm just makes the page go all wobbly

You can press end to go to the bottom of the page and home to get to the top.

Yes I suppose so ,but that's still two cursor moves ....very irritating for may lazy arse when the post box could just be higher up.

Hi ggirl,
there's an ad a message link at the top - next to watch this thread... maybe it needs to be more prominent?

RustyBear · 09/05/2008 14:21

I've just tried it - if you use that link, the message box is at the top of the screen & Preview & Post message button are on the screen - you don't have to scroll down.

RustyBear · 09/05/2008 14:24

Of course, if you're reading down the page(earliest first), when you reach the bottom of the thread & feel inspired to add something, you would then have to scroll up to get to the Add message link at the top...

If you read messages latest first though, it should work.

NotABanana · 09/05/2008 14:26

You can add a message via the top link or the bottom box so I don't see the prob?

My format ,I am old style I think.
I like to have the thread start at the bottom of the page.
I use the add button which takes me down to bottom of said page, which is fine,I have no problem there.
But on my screen there isn't enough room for the top of the box you write the message in and the post button at the bottom without scrolling down.
Maybe it's peculiar to my screen, maybe I have too much going on at the top of my page .

I am a dinosaur when it comes to puters .

RustyBear · 09/05/2008 15:55

You can type in the box, but the preview/post message buttons are still off the page! (Not that it's me that has a problem with it, I'm just bored at work...)

brimfull · 09/05/2008 15:59

yes rusty -that's the problem

HOw big is your monitor?

If it is a reasonable size you could adjust your screen resolution which would make ervything (text, icons everything) a bit smaller, meaning you get more on a page.

AHout if you want to give it a try and one of us will talk you through,

SlightlyMadSweet · 09/05/2008 16:02

It will literally change everything though - your desktop, word, windows. Not just MN.

brimfull · 09/05/2008 16:08

ooh ok

the screen is 12" across
9" down

OP posts:
SlightlyMadSweet · 09/05/2008 16:16

OK so that is a 15" monitopr then (tis the diagonal you measure) which is about average.

That probably isn't large enough to get a resolution that you cab see it al on, without the content being too small.

What do the pros think [glares at the bunny] - what should the recommended res be on a 15", and will she be able to see enough at that resolution?

brimfull · 09/05/2008 16:22

I may have too many bar thingies at the top
could that make a difference?

OP posts:
RustyBear · 09/05/2008 16:27

The F11 thing is supposed to get rid of those, so you have more room. Don't know why it didn't on your computer....

brimfull · 09/05/2008 16:30

ooohh it has rusty!!

OP posts:
brimfull · 09/05/2008 16:31

wow problem sorted thanks soooo much

OP posts:
RustyBear · 09/05/2008 16:35

btw - you press it again to get the menus & address bar back - or to get it backtemporarily, just put your mouse over it.

beaniesteve · 09/05/2008 16:36

I have mine set up so the first post is at teh top, the last post at the bottom of teh screen. Do most people not do this?

brimfull · 09/05/2008 16:38

i like to scroll up to read a thread

thanks rusty
