Pregnancy test photos - AI training?

MaterCogitaVera · 15/01/2025 19:43

Has anyone else noticed this? There seem to be so many people asking whether a photo of a pregnancy test is positive in AIBU these days. It’s weird. And not remotely an AIBU question, either! I’m starting to wonder whether some company is training an AI to read pregnancy tests, and is using AIBU to crowdsource people’s judgements 😂

There have always been loads of these.

When I am Queen Of MN, I shall have a new topic called "Sticks and Scans" and shall move every single "interpret this image" to it, both POAS and nub questions

Honestly I've been here ten years and always remember them being really common

It's hardly worth the effort really. Wait another week and you'll have the answer.

Ah, okay - good to know! It’s weird that my brain has suddenly started noticing them more.

Hi @MaterCogitaVera

We haven't noticed anything unusual going on - as others have said, there have always been plenty of 'line eyes' threads on the site, and they're not always posted in the Pregnancy or Conception topic.

But we're always happy to check out any threads you're concerned about so just hit the Report button if you want us to take a closer look Smile

Thanks, @JoMumsnet! I was more curious than concerned, really, but it’s good to know that it’s not a new trend. I’m seeing AI nonsense everywhere these days, so I guess I’m a bit paranoid!

There have always been loads of line posts, but I’ve noticed a huge boom in gender guessing posts over the last few weeks. Not sure if it’s old posts being bumped because I don’t usually open them, but my active page seems full of them.

I'm like this, once I notice something I see it EVERYWHERE Grin
