Back to the top of boards

Hi,

Mumsnet can I please please please request 🙏 that when you leave a thread it takes you back to where you were rather than pinging back to the top of the board. For example when you leave a post on Active you are back to where you were scrolling. But on other boards when you leave a thread you are pinged back to the top of the board. It's really hard and annoying to read past posts.

My issuse is I read a post then use back button and it pings me back to the page I was reading yesterday. Thats even more ennoying.

@Slawit that is really annoying and makes boards unusable.

I noticed it's been doing this the last few weeks. It never used to.
I'm using the site far far less as it's just so frustrating.

Aww thanks and thank you for joining me here I am keeping my fingers crossed that mumsnet HQ can fix it asap. I wonder if it's only us having the issue or if other people are fed up of it also 🤔

Hi there @MidnightBloom (and others). We have had a similar issue in the past with users being thrown to the top of threads randomly but it may or may not be related to that.

Can we ask anyone experiencing this to let us know whether they're on the main site or the app, as well as what device and browser they are using? If you could also tell us precisely what happens when this occurs? eg are you pressing the back button, or clicking on the active button or going straight to another thread?

I am on samsung phone, Samsung Internet, on the mobile site.
I always access stuff through active, and just scroll down the list and read what seems interesting.
When I have finished reading a thread, I press the back button, and instead of taking me back to where I was in active, it takes me back to the top of the page in active. Then I have to try and remember where I was and scroll all the way back down again.
Until I get to the last ten or so threads on active. If I read those, then press back, it takes me back to where I was on the active board.

Hi @HebeMumsnet I am using a Samsung phone and go onto the main site via Google. Active works for me. If I go onto other boards for example on Saturday morning I was on Slimming world board reading old threads. When I click back it then jumps me straight back to the top rather than where I was on the thread list (hope this makes sense)
