Video ads freezing screen

Hi, not had this for awhile but the video ads are freezing my screen.

It's very annoying as I have to use task manager to close my browser and log in again.

Had this before and reported it, it was much better for quite a few months.

I mostly use the mobile version and my screen freezes every time I use MN. Not sure if it’s just Safari or just my phone.

MN is the only website I use where the screen regularly freezes - every time I’m on here.

Hi there @BishyBarnyBee . Sorry - we were a bit snowed under over the weekend but we're looking into this now. Is it specifically the ad you have screenshot that is the problem or is it a wider thing?

We are aware of a problem generally with users on Safari and we're working on finding a solution to that. If you're on Safari, you could try another broweser. Clearing your cache and cookies might also help. The other thing you can do is to reduce your 'posts per page' view in settings to 25, 50 or 100 posts per page rather than 1,000 which is more likely to crash.

Thanks @HebeMumsnet , I'll give that a try. I was having this constantly maybe six months ago but it had stopped so was very frustrating to have it start up again.

Seemed to be that particular ad. Last time it was also certain ads, I particularly remember a red virgin ad that did it all the time.

Thanks @BishyBarnyBee . Can you tell us, is the ad always appearing as a 'display' ad, as above? It's not autoplaying or anything like that, or appearing on both sides of the thread or as a 'banner' across the top? Just trying to get a picture of what's happening here. Any other screenshots or screen videos you can send would be enormously helpful too so we can see more of it in action
