Is anyone else having a similar problem or is it just my phone? It crashed and then says something about too many requests.

The fire freezing and crashing is a known problem and there's been several threads on it but unfortunately no real update form MNHQ in regards to resolving the issues other than the generic we're looking into it.

Thank you! I should have checked the board before starting a new thread.

Thank you! I should have checked the board before starting a new thread.

No worries, it never hurts to have more threads pinpointing a serious issue that seems to only occur when people use the site.

Hopefully we get an update on fixing it soon.

Catshit · 28/12/2024 18:17

Every thread is taking ages to load and then it gets stuck on a blank advert

RachelCarew · 28/12/2024 18:19

Same here, also posting a link doesn't work very well for me (hasn't done for ages), the box doesn't disappear and I end up with multiple links which don't work.

I've just downloaded the app so I can use MN (although I'm not loving it at all) as the site been completely unusable for me for months. I go on to the web page and have a few seconds to try to click on a thread before it freezes, if I get through to the thread, then I've got a few seconds to scroll down to see enough content to give me a few mins reading while it tries to load the ad. I responded to the MN ad for testers who were having this issue for a software update - but never organised myself to attend the zoom call. It made me think there's a fix in the pipeline but who knows.

Yes I’ve had to swap to chrome, works much better but can’t go through app anymore.

Same. The app is sketchy

VivienneDelacroix · 28/12/2024 20:55

I'm having similar problems using Chrome.

Dearg · 28/12/2024 20:56

I moved to DuckduckGo as my browser ( others are available) Great add blockers and privacy. Totally fixed the problem for me. Think it’s all the adds, the black screen etc that keeps popping up, that crashes on Safari.

Catshit · 29/12/2024 09:53

Any update on this? @mumsnettowers

CissOff · 29/12/2024 10:08

I have the same issue in Safari, it’s slightly better on Chrome but it renders the site unusable for me for ages and also stops me being able to navigate away to other sites.

It’s the bloody adverts!

Pigeonqueen · 29/12/2024 10:09

Mine was so awful I’ve had to use Google Chrome instead. Totally unusable on Safari.

It will start freezing soon no doubt. It freezes for me all the time.

Morning, everyone. We're still working on this one, we're afraid. In the meantime, switching to 25, 50 or 100 posts viewed per page seems to be helping as a workaround for many people, so that's worth a go.

We'll update as soon as there's more news.

It's not an issue due to long posts though? Often it's very short ones or even ones without any replies yet.

Zinglenibber · 30/12/2024 12:09

I'm using Chrome on my phone and Mumsnet is the only site I'm struggling to use. It's laggy and intermittently freezes my phone so badly I have to restart it.

It might be the ads, some are hard to scroll past and the last time my phone froze was as I was trying to push the page up past an animated university ad.

Edited to add I only have 25 posts per page already.

OriginalUsername2 · 30/12/2024 12:12

I’m getting freezing every single time I come on for the last couple of weeks. Also on Safari.

Balloonhearts · 30/12/2024 12:15

I'm constantly restarting Chrome due to freezing. It's the ads. As soon as you scroll past one the whole thing seizes up.
