AIBU posts asking for help with online services

The threads on AIBU are often only loosely related to the board’s stated topic, which I think is generally a good thing - but I feel that it would help to keep the topic a bit more engaging if Mumsnet could move posts which are just asking for help using online services (especially Vinted, eBay, etc.) to a more suitable board.

There’s a regular stream of questions like “How do I access my Vinted account balance?”, “Can I get a refund for this item from eBay?”, “How do I contact a real person about this Amazon order?”, “Why have Facebook locked my account?”, “What’s this new icon in my Vinted profile?” They’re totally off-topic for AIBU.

I read AIBU for the moral/social dilemmas and interpersonal dramas, not for people’s technical questions! And often you can’t tell that it’s going to be a technical question until you open it and skim-read it.

Before you ask, I do indeed have more important things to worry about 😁I just think this would improve AIBU a bit. (And while we’re at it, so would banning any comment with “if the genders were reversed” in it!)

Hi MaterCogitaVera,

We don't really have any hard and fast rules about the subjects people can post about in AIBU, but if there's no clear moral/social dilemma in the opening post then we'll sometimes move threads to our Chat topic or wherever might be more suitable.

Just for the record, we did have a spate of spam threads this morning about Facebook accounts and hacking issues, and we've deleted all of those ones by now.

Please report any threads that you think would be better placed elsewhere - we're always happy to take a look.
