It seems like Thanks just suddenly turned into React - is it a public reaction?

I really liked the Thanks option.

I've just looked at the options when you press react and I think they are childish and trivialising.

I know Thanks is an option. But you can't see who has Thanked you.
And I find the emojis cringeworthy and trivialising.

Perhaps as well the idiot-infant emojis, one could be the word "thanks"?

I think the yellow clapping hands are the thanks.

It's also slightly annoying that it takes multiple taps to thank - I used to just scroll'n'thank.

Maybe this is a wake up call I spend too much time on here!

I appreciate the fact that they are all positive. I hope people won't use the laughter one in the way that sometimes happens on Facebook, when A says something not intended to be funny, and B doesn't like it, so mocks it with laughter.

I agree about the laughter one.

If someone says a funny joke, the clapping hands will do. So there's no need for the laughter one
