Automatic AI detection

There is a good few threads popping up that seem like AI. Can't you get your computer guys to automatically delete AI generated posts.

I was thinking the same thing!

For example please?

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 09/12/2024 05:04

I wish I could spot these as I hate feeling I've been sucked in. I kind of need an idiots guide to spotting them or some examples...

The issue with an AI (or indeed human) automatic detection algorithm, is that one of the first usages it will be put to is to train an AI to defeat it and appear more human. This is one use of ‘reinforcement learning’.

I guess it's also likely that posters with genuine intentions might use AI to help write their posts. 🫠

Morning, everyone. Could we ask you to hit the report button on any threads you have concerns about? As @GodotIsntComing says, people do use AI sometimes to draft a post, which we don't really have a problem with as long as they're genuine and just using it for speed and to help with putting the post together. If you suspect posts of being AI generated for nefarious purposes though, just hit the report button and we can take a look behind the scenes.

Thanks!

And the best way to detect AI posts would be.... to use AI to hunt for them?

Poacher turned gamekeeper. Oh the irony 😂

BarbaraHoward · 09/12/2024 09:57

There is no reliable AI detector so they can't be automatically deleted.
