When accessing mumsnet from my phone I continuously get this message pop up:

Allow notifications from this website
mumsnet url underneath

I usually hit deny or x out of it but it comes up again a few seconds later.

Has anybody experienced this? My browser is set to no notifications.

Hi OP,

Are you using any ad blockers, or browsing incognito? And are you logged in when this happens?

Brownwitch · 28/11/2024 22:21

Yes I am logged in. Not changed anything and just started happening the past few days.

This is happening to me too. Every time I come back to the site, as though it doesn't retain my settings between visits (except it does, because I remain logged in). I'm using Samsung browser and do have an ad blocker.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 02/12/2024 07:27

I'm getting this too. It's really annoying. Also logged in and using the Samsung browser on my phone. Don't think I have any ad blockers enabled and I'm not browsing incognito.

Morning everyone. Thanks for the information shared so far. If anyone else is experiencing this could you let us know the same information: are you logged in, browsing incognito or using an ad blocker? If you could also let us know what device and browser you're on that's alway helpful.

And if anyone can get a screenshot of this message, that would be really useful too. Thank you!

SlowlyGainingConfidence · 02/12/2024 19:34

I am getting this too, almost everytime I load a new page. I'm logged in, using Samsung browser on a galaxy a21s. Been happening for about a week. Not using an adblocker.

SlowlyGainingConfidence · 02/12/2024 19:36

Here's a screenshot, it happened reloading page after I hit post.

Hi again everyone,

We're looking into this issue but in the meantime, as this appears to be an issue with Samsung devices, please could you try turning off all web notifications in the Settings of your Samsung browser app.

Here are the steps you need to take to disable push notifications for a specific website in Samsung Internet Browser:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap "Notifications"
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right corner, then "Allow or block sites"
  4. Disable push notifications for one, several or all websites.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, just come to see if anyone else has posted about this as this pop up won't leave me alone recently and I'm not getting it on other websites! I've tried going into settings as suggested, that only seems to give the option of turning on or disabling notifications, there is no option to stop the pop up asking me if I want to enable notifications, which I don't!
These are my options, I am assuming if I leave it on I will get notifications?

Just stumbled on this thread. Same issue, Samsung browser with ad block, logged in continuously. All notifications have been blocked since forever (just double-checked), so at least in my case that's not a viable workaround.

SlowlyGainingConfidence · 05/04/2025 08:23

Did anyone find a solution to this? It's still happening for me almost every time I change pages. I tried the disable notifications above but that hasn't made any difference

SlowlyGainingConfidence · 05/04/2025 08:25

Photo for reference. Rest of details the same- samsung browser, no ad blocker, logged in

That is exactly what I get, have not found a solution.

Morning, everyone.

For anyone still having this issue could we ask you to do the following?

  1. Confirm that you're using a Samsung device
  2. Turn off notifications using the instructions up there ^^
  3. Check you definitely don't have an ad blocker switched on. (Some people have found one has sneaked in somewhere along the line)

If you've done all those things and it's still happening please let us know here. Thank you!

SlowlyGainingConfidence · 08/04/2025 20:05

Yes to all 3 of those except for no. 2, my settings are not exactly as per the description but mumsnet is blocked for notifications

I don't want to speak too soon but I just turned all the settings I could think of/find back on and then off again & then hit deny on my next refresh & it seems to have gone 🙏

HebeMumsnet · 09/04/2025 10:13

Oh that's good news @SlowlyGainingConfidence . Hopefully it's sorted now but let us know if it comes back.
