Has anyone else’s OP colour changed?

I can’t tell if I’m just going a bit mad, but it looks like a different shade of green and I feel all out of sorts!

We haven't made any changes to the OP colour so this sounds unusual! Would it be possible to send a screenshot of what you're seeing? Does it change if you are logged in or out?

SalviaDivinorum · 21/11/2024 12:58

Yes mine is changed too. I'm also seeing the poll option which I have turned off.

I've checked my settings and they are correct. The site is just taking no notice of them

Gatekeeper · 21/11/2024 12:58

yes! mine has changed colour as well

Metheven · 21/11/2024 12:59

Yes, mine has changed to green.

SoupDragon · 21/11/2024 13:00

I think mine is the same shade of green.

My posts are now appearing at the end of the thread rather than the top though (I red them "flipped" because I'm old school) so something has been tinkered with.

BleachedJumper · 21/11/2024 13:00

it actually only seems to be the original post, as subsequent posts revert to the old green.

Mine haven't changed, but my OP posts were always the same shade of green as the top one in your pic.

KatyMumsnet · 21/11/2024 13:02

It looks like there is an issue with settings - we are looking in to it!

Bigearringsbigsmile · 21/11/2024 13:04

Yes! Mine should be pink and they're coming up green!

I have all sorts of weird colours going on! OPs are usually dark purple for me.

Yes, the OP posts were grey and now they're green. Also, I have threads set to see all 1000 posts on one page and now I am repeatedly seeing just the OP and the final post and in between them a thing that says 'load earlier posts' which then shows a few more but not the whole thread. I hope this isn't a permanent change as the whole reason I use that setting is so that I can easily navigate up and down a long thread.

I'm on a laptop using the desktop site on a Chrome browser.

SilenceInside · 21/11/2024 13:04

Yep, just noticed it now. The opening post is in the colour that my own posts normally are (green), and the other posts of the OP are in the original colour (purple).

Bigearringsbigsmile · 21/11/2024 13:04

Oh- they've gone back to pink

Bailiwitch · 21/11/2024 13:04

I completely assumed it was MNHQ initiated.

Maybe a by-product of the death of conversation? I really don’t like the new format that makes reading previous comments on a thread officially optional.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/11/2024 13:06

Like this.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 21/11/2024 13:07

No- ops are still green

BloominNora · 21/11/2024 13:10

The 'load older posts' button only appears for me if I have bookmarked a post - I like that for longer threads

Bailiwitch · 21/11/2024 13:10

Yup, @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g! It’s kinda terrifying.

SilenceInside · 21/11/2024 13:20

I'm also getting the "loading older posts" thing too which I don't normally. Also, my "New" post notifications on my I'm On list aren't updating properly. I've read all the posts, so there should be no New post numbers, but they remain showing with the previous un-read totals.

Belindabelle · 21/11/2024 13:58

Yes funny green and can’t click any links in the op.

KatyMumsnet · 21/11/2024 16:20

Thanks for the feedback so far! I just want to take a moment to address some of the points raised and share what we’re working on.

We’ve introduced infinite scroll as a new way to navigate through threads. Instead of loading all posts at once, posts will now load dynamically as you scroll. This approach helps to prevent slow loading times and potential crashes that can occur with large threads.

For users accessing threads through bookmarks, notifications, or any direct links to specific posts, you’ll see a ‘load older posts’ button. This prevents the thread from jumping around when you land on a specific point. However, if you’re visiting a thread for the first time using a general link, such as from the trending or active, all posts will still load as usual.

We’re rolling out an update tomorrow morning that will load some earlier posts above the direct post link you clicked when you land mid-thread. We’re hopeful this will make navigation smoother, and we’d love to hear your thoughts once the change goes live.

Additionally, we’ve already resolved the issues with the OP post colour, voting settings, and 'new' post notifications in 'threads I'm on'. We’re also addressing the issue where the ‘load older posts’ button appears incorrectly, and this should be fixed shortly.

Rest assured, we’re keeping an eye on all other reported issues and prioritising fixes as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience and input—it’s incredibly valuable as we refine the experience. I’ll keep you updated as things progress, and please keep sharing your feedback!

SilenceInside · 21/11/2024 16:24

@KatyMumsnet it's a crazy thought, but have your development team considered testing things before releasing them?

Will there be a way to turn off "infinite scroll"? I personally absolutely hate this as a concept, and want the whole thread to load first even if it's hundreds of posts and then I am in control of where I scroll to. Rather than having more content load, and pinging back up the page again.

SilenceInside · 21/11/2024 16:26

Also, new posts are now appearing at the bottom of the page, and posts are out of sequence according to the timestamps, see the attached screenshot.

KatyMumsnet · 21/11/2024 16:36

@SilenceInside we have tested this internally and with users before releasing as we do with all our releases. Unfortunately there were some small issues we didn't pick up during the testing mainly due to varying devices and internet speeds etc. Everyone's help in spotting these is hugely appreciated.

I'm sorry you're not a fan but as I've said this is about creating a faster and better performing website. I hope we can improve it so that we can achieve this and make it enjoyable for you to use.
