Old threads being bumped

bruffin · 09/11/2024 11:35

On my threads I am on , this morning there was an 8 year old thread and a 12 year old thread being bumped. Please can you do somegthing to stop this. They add nothing to the thread, nobody reads the new post they just look at the OP post. Cant you just block posting to old threads ie a post that hasnt been posted on for 6 months or something. If OP wants to update an old thread they just need to link to it and say UPDATE in the title.

Hello @bruffin, please feel free to report any zombie threads that find their way back into Active. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing, we do appreciate that some users find it annoying. We're always happy to take a look and where appropriate, remove from Active.

It is often because of the 'similar threads' box at the end of each page. Some of the suggestions are ancient and I accidently resurrected a dead thread myself because of it. It lists the thread title and the board but not the date of the thread.

In the Guardian, if an old article surfaces they flag it with something like 'this article is 2 years old'. It would be helpful if, at least, the date was included in the 'similar posts' list.

that's a good idea, i never click on similar threads , it;s a silly idea in the first place.
