Can we please have a separate running board?

Much like the yoga board. There are many threads relating to running in the general exercise board, in fact it appears that the running threads are in the majority. It would be more convenient for all to have a separate board for runners and running related threads.

Hi there @BearWoman. Thanks for the idea. We're always willing to consider new boards if there's enough support from them.

If anyone else would like to use a running board, post your thoughts about how it might work here and we'll keep reading.

Just wondering how that would be useful - and indeed how it is useful to have a separate yoga board. It is hard to imagine that the presence of threads on a range of different exercise topics on one board actually makes it harder to find relevant threads.
And in fact the opposite might be true: people might go on to the exercise topic, find no running threads there and give up, unaware that they are in a more niche topic elsewhere. I think that does happen quite a lot because the topics list on MN is so long and so obscurely sub-divided.

Also, what about the many threads whose content straddles exercise-in-general and running-in-particular, such as (e.g.) "Back pain -- should I cut my running mileage or mix in a bit of Pilates to improve my core strength?"

How is a focused running board any different than any other established niche board: the weights room, menopause, weight loss injections to name but a few?

How it would work:

Create an over-arching topic called 'Exercise'

... which then has sub-topics for each specific exercise.

This is the way it works for other subjects - e.g. The Big/Slim/Whatever Weight Loss Club

Can't see the problem @ReadWithScepticism

And I think it's a great idea @BearWoman @HebeMumsnet

Great suggestion re the sub-topics.

I agree with BIWI - that would be a much better way to organise the exercise board.

I agree with BIWI's suggestion, I always struggle to find the exercise threads.
