Why not just delete the offensive post rather than the entire thread??

It was deleted in the last 15 mins, the one about Flaky friends. I was about to post an answer on it and saw it's been deleted for breaking talk guidelines. But there was only about 21 posts on it and none of them were in the least bit offensive or controversial that I could see. How could something have been posted so quickly that was so offensive the entire thread was deleted , why not just delete an offensive post rather than the whole thread??

Because the thread was AI generated in the first place, I assume.

How on earth can they know it was AI generated?

Hi OP

We removed the thread because we don't believe it was started by a genuine poster. We have tools behind the scenes that help us spot this, but we can't share too much about it. Sorry that the thread was lost, and feel free to start new topics for anything you want to discuss.

Unfortunately iterative ('learning') AI-generated posts are piling into MN on a regular basis, hence the clusters of very similar threads appearing from time to time.

Justine Roberts is being proactive in taking on both this and the aligned 'data scrapers' eg from Aston University (see previous threads on Feminism and Site Stuff: passim).
