My thread about Keir Starmer...

My thread was deleted for "speculating about someone's sexuality" I wasn't doing that. Other posters were. Surely deleting their posts was the way forward, not deleting the whole thread?

Unfortunately I think there was so much of it, the whole thread would just have fallen apart.

But some of those posters really showed their true colours.

HebeMumsnet · 16/10/2024 09:56

Hi there @CurlewKate. It sounds likely that BIWI's explanation is correct and there were so many posts that broke Talk Guidelines, the whole thread had to go, but we'll happily check it out for you. If you hit the report button on your post here and tell us what the thread was called, someone will get back to you and let you know what happened there.

BIWI · 16/10/2024 10:02

Frankly @CurlewKate I'm glad it's gone - the posts by the hedgehog person (can't remember the full username) were truly horrible. Unfortunately they were also prolific on the thread.

DuncinToffee · 16/10/2024 10:03

I was on that thread and it went from lighthearted fun to homophobia and vile insults within record time.

I was glad it got zapped.

Startingagainandagain · 16/10/2024 10:04

Frankly your thread was odd.

You were mentioning 'rumours' and 'big secret' without any details of what you were talking about or any evidence or links to serious journalistic investigation so it was a non-thread anyway...

BIWI · 16/10/2024 11:06

Actually, @Startingagainandagain, it wasn't odd at all. It was to point out that all the conspiracy theories about superinjunctions simply aren't true.

roseymoira · 16/10/2024 11:27

Your thread wasn't actually about anything, other than a vague reference to elusive rumours

BIWI · 16/10/2024 11:31

@roseymoira you - like many others - have completely missed the point of the thread. It was started to prove that the stories about a superinjunction were complete nonsense.

It didn't prove anything

It proved that there are a lot of very unpleasant people who are happy to speculate about someone's sexuality and family life in the most prurient. homophobic way, which also proved @CurlewKate 's point in starting the thread.

They truly did. It was quite the eye-opener.

There was a previous thread where people were absolutely bursting with glee because Fawkes, Oakshott and Wootten had hinted about some great secret that was about to be revealed that Starmer wouldn't be able to survive. It all came to naught. That was the whole point of CurlewKate's thread.

Thank you @HebeMumsnet. I came back to it and it was gone-I missed the ruckus. Thank you for explaining.

@Startingagainandagain you rather make my point!

Thank you @BIWI and @PandoraSox

It was inviting people to speculate. There’s a whole load on X I assume, which then gets posted if people ask
