I have never noticed this before. Apologies if Im late to the party, but just looked up threads Im watching and seen that one is “closed and no longer accepting replies’. Just wondering if this is new? Also , presumably its at OPs request, in which case why not ask for it to be taken down?

Is it up to a 1000 messages? They automatically close when they get to a 1000.

I noticed one closed down the other day that was at 900+ posts. It had been open 5 days! The MN message was that the OP felt it was 'identifying.' (OP hadn't posted on it for 3 days!)

Don't know why she left it so long, or why she wanted it gone!

The one I saw only had a couple of hundred on it so nowhere near the maximum? It didnt have any reason just said “This thread is no longer accepting responses’ or something like that

Hello @Sidebeforeself it's not new - we will occasionally close a thread to new posts, for example, if it's going downhill and we don't see things improving. Generally, we'll post first to say why so please do report the thread and we'll take a look.
