User name and thank you button

If I change my name, as I do relatively often, and then thank someone, either on a thread I have started, commented on, or simply viewed, which name shows up to the user I am thanking?

I would assume the one you used on the post??

It will use the name you posted with on the thread. If you are thanking on a thread you haven't posted on, it will use the name you're currently logged in with,

The name you used on that post.

I'd prefer mnhq to answer this to be sure because I have the same question. So please @mnhq Can you confirm which name shows up when you thank someone on a thread you commented on but you're currently using a different name - would it be the name you commented on or the name you're currently using?

I've seen some strange names thank my posts and they were not on the thread, and while I know it could be anyone, I sometimes feel it's some of the people responding to me on the thread but it isn't showing as them. It's not like i'd said anything particularly popular for others not in the conversation to like. I could be wrong but would love to know for sure.

Or perhaps OP we could try and see if it works. I could thank you with another name and you could tell me which name shows?

If you are on the desktop and hover over the thanks button, it will say 'This thanks will appear from [username].' I don't know if you can do same on app.

@HollyLollyMollyJolly '@mnhq' doesn't go anywhere, you are better off self-reporting your post to get their attention.

Why would you be using different names on a thread?

Ah thanks @Sethera . I'm on the mobile browser. It only clicks to thank and clicks to remove the thanks. I can't see my name when I thank a post but can see others thanks on mine.

Not diff names on a thread (You can't do that anyway with the new feature, thankfully). It's having a namechange and using it on other threads but coming to thanking a post/reply on a thread you were on (using a different name).
